Amiga

~ What is the Amiga...?

Well no doubt you know this, but one day I plan to add my own write up to educate those of you who don't. But to keep it brief, lets just say it's the best home computer ever made. There have been some problems over the last few years, but thing are looking up :) Take a look at my links page for further information on the Amiga.

~ My Amiga

Over the years I have had 4 Amigas, bought and sold numerous peripherals but now have settled on a customised Commodore A1200. I started off with an A500, then an A500+ and up until a few months ago an A1200 mounted in a full tower case, complete with 7 Zorro II slots and several Zorro cards including a Cybervision 64/3D. I now have a customised A1200, which I have christened the A1200C.

For details on how I've customised my A1200 look here. Please note that this page uses lots (well only 14) of images (JPEG's) totalling nearly 500kb. Lets hope you've got a fast connection to Force9!

~ Software

These days, when I'm not browsing the web or replying to e-mail I spend my Amiga time writing AmigaDOS and ARexx scripts. The biggest project to date is MailCheck, but I have many other smaller yet very useful projects under development. Most of them focus around the internet (e.g. web, e-mail, ftp etc...), but I also have several others for DOpus5.6 (Magellan) and the Siamese System.

~ Important Notice!

All of the software on this page is supplied without warranty of any kind. By downloading it you agree to use it at your own risk.

Many of the ARexx scripts require additional shareware/freeware programs and libraries in order to work. In order to make things simple I have added http: links from this page to download them from the Aminet or in the case of YAM, Miami, DOpus, Photogenics and the Siamese System these links point to the developers official web site.

If you experience problems downloading the files (especially LZX) with your browser, try shift-clicking.

Below is a complete listing of everything (that's worth mentioning) to date:

ModeSelect

Essential for everyone using Workbench on a Siamese RTG screen. Have you noticed your icons keep moving - even after you've snapshotted them!? Do you find it annoying? I did and that's why I wrote this package. No longer will Workbench open on a PAL screen and then RTG to the PC -Workbench will open on the RTG screen first time, therefore preserving your icon positions.

Requirements - Siamese System, RexxTricks, Reqtools, RexxReqtools and RexxMast.
No download available at the moment :( Come back soon...
Current version: 1.0 Last updated: ??/??/??

LCD

Replacement ARexx script for "lcd.dopus5" originally written by Jonathan Potter and shipped with DOpus 5.x. Works identically to JP's script, but additionally launches DOpus if not running and reveals DOpus (when iconified) as necessary.

Requirements - DOpus 5.x and RexxMast.
No download available at the moment :( Come back soon...

~ Other stuff that will probably never see the light of day...

LinkBar - MUI floating string requester, with poplist history. Similar to IE4's Address Toolbar. Requires NetLinks and DDC for full desktop/internet integration. Dropped due to lack of need/interest.

SiameseProxy - ARexx script to enable use of MailCheck with the Siamese System (v2.5), AmiTCP and Win95 Dial Up Networking and a proxy server on the PC (e.g. WinProxy). Allow the Amiga to "control" the dial-up connection through the PC. Soon to be replaced by new project (name as yet undecided) that is implemented in a MUCH better way... Watch this space!
